Jesus Breaks Every Fetter

fetter

Fetter: A chain or shackle for the feet; something that confines, restricts movement; to bind.

I praise God that He came to set us free from everything that would “fetter” us! Many of the Lord’s people are still bound by fear, bitterness, legalism, guilt, painful memories, regrets, a critical spirit, unforgiveness, and more. I have been delivered from some of these things, and still struggle with others, but the Lord is at work! He will not leave us in shackles.

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound…” Isaiah 61:1

Many times, I have gone through my house singing the old chorus, Jesus Breaks Every Fetter, with tears of joy! When He lifts the veil from our eyes to see our LIBERTY in Him, it is mind-blowing! I bow my knees in utter awe and thanksgiving for the new understanding that He is giving to me–visions of grace, mercy, and liberty! In an upcoming post, I’ll share with you how I have been bound by legalism for many years! It still raises it’s ugly head from time to time, but the Lord has done so much, already. I’m sure all of us can testify of His goodness in delivering us from things that have held us back from true freedom in our lives. I am not yet where I want to be, but I trust that it’s the Lord’s will to bring me to where He is.

“Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.” Isaiah 33:17

Oh, when we see our King in His beauty, and the freedom that He offers, then we shall come into the land full of spiritual milk and honey! “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36).

Remember that we have an enemy, the devil, and his goal is to keep us bound by his lies that say we are failures and God doesn’t love us. Our painful shackles can overwhelm us with hopelessness, shame, discouragement, and crippling depression. The Lord’s goal is to get a Bride, without spot or wrinkle and He will get what He wants! He won’t leave us where we are, but promises to “present us faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy” (Jude 1:24).

It amazes me how the Lord uses His people as instruments of healing and deliverance to one another. Many of you have written blog posts that contain just the word that I needed to hear! I want to thank you all for your transparency! I’m finding this to be a safe place to share and to grow, as my own shackles are cast off.

Jesus breaks every fetter,

Jesus breaks every fetter,

Jesus breaks every fetter,

And He sets me free!

How true. How wonderful to always remember that our God is a Mighty God and He won’t leave us in our filth.
He will cleanse us, surely He will. He never leaves a soul in the miry clay. WE come to Him and He does the rest. God be praised.
